Documentation: scanned cross-sectioned fruits

As mentioned in this post, I wanted to translate the petri dish fruits into another non-perishable (& therefore artificial/synthetic) medium. Working quickly, I cut up and scanned the individual pieces, then photoshopped them to clean them up (remove bubbles, imperfections, etc.)
It felt as if, by deconstructing these plant-foods and retouching the images, I was doing a sort of digital/aesthetic version of genetic engineering.
